Reclaim Lilith and BE the Original Resistance by Hazel DaHealer

Lilith is perhaps our oldest story of female disobedience. The form in which Lilith manifested would depend on which culture was defining She who would not be tamed. We can all agree she wasn't a literal demon who stole children in the night or a demon who commanded dominion over a romantic partner. She was a female who was anti-establishment. Lilith was going to change the status quo. How do you subvert change? This is easily done by labeling the change as the ultimate form of bad, evil, or wicked.

Fast forward a few millennia and we find that we occupy the same position as our foremothers. We are super advanced and stealing children in the night and dominating on a scale never before seen in Herstory. Wait! What? No, we are sadly not progressing. We are the establishment. We have been deceived into believing we are all powerful in a fight against the ultimate evil. We are oppressing ourselves in a cultural war with endless unnecessary battles. The blinders we wear are painted with beautiful images of equality, tolerance, and compassion. Our challenge is to take off the blinders and truly see again!

The problem is that we are so entrenched in fighting the Holy War against Them that we aren't looking around and building that which serves us all. Very few women are CREATING for themselves and their children and their communities. Oh, but We are Fighting them for Liberation! Nah, we have been conned into believing the premise is accurate. How easily we have been controlled emotionally by the ultimate Fight Club. There's no time to tend the garden, we must fight the oppression!

Lilith is our answer to how we save ourselves and our communities. We tell the Fight Club that we will not be ridden like the Harlot. We don't steal children—think converts—to Our side of the argument. We turn around and pick up the tools we manifest with our Goddess-given gifts. We build the world we demand for ourselves! We take back our sovereignty by turning from the Outrage of the Day and focusing on our own literal self-care.

When we eat and drink healthy for us foods that nourish our bodies we Restore life. Our restoration of life reduces waste and pollution. When we extend our hand to our next-door neighbor to help mow the lawn or bring in groceries we Release the gloved fist. When we plant flowers on a playground we Inspire our children to create beautiful things. They become artists and caretakers and we rid ourselves of aggressors.

As we embrace our individual Lilith and focus on what we Love, what we hate loses dominion and our best grows and flourishes. We have the potential to be teachers, nurturers and creators if we choose to do so. Lilith is the original Shero. She turns our focus to what we love. Lilith says Resist the Fight Club and return to building. The life we create for ourselves is the life we create for our world. We are the Womb Keepers, the Builders, the Creatrix!  Lilith rises! Rise with Her! Our children are not demons. They are fruit of our wombs! Plant the garden to nourish ourselves and each other! Stand in Power!
