The Veil

Her eyes looked into mine
from behind her veil,
deep, expressive eyes that said more than a thousand whole faces,
thoughts from a thousand places and
the feelings of humanity
beating like a hundred thousand hearts.
She smiled and her eyes were miracles
- an oasis in my desert -
her veil the mystery of Divinity,
concealing Serendipity
and delivering blessing.
Beyond the veil,
Eternity,
they say,
and pray to that which dwells forever there.
Divinity is in these eyes,
behind this veil,
within the smile we share.
