Costumes and Scripts

“Most of us live on a carefully constructed pedestal above our inner lives just to make it
through each day. We wear costumes and spout scripts that are often foreign to our spirit.
We dismiss our feelings, believing they’ll further complicate an already demanding life. We
disregard any troublesome thoughts, believing they’ll divert us from the tasks at hand. We
ignore our body’s sensations, believing they’ll slow us down.

As a result we walk around in a trance having lost touch with what is actually happening
within us, denying ourselves access to our enormous internal reservoir of life-energy. We
live from life’s surface reserves unfamiliar with our powerful depths. Yet we secretly long to
live an authentic life on our own terms from the inside out.

Imagine a woman who turns toward herself with interest. A woman who descends into her own richly textured inner life. Whose capacity to be available to lovers, friends, family, and colleagues deepens as she is available to herself. Imagine yourself as this woman as you awaken from your slumber, shake off the trance, and journey home to yourself.” – Patricia Lynn Reilly
